How is LUTS due Benign Prostate Enlargement diagnosed ?
Apart from the typical symptoms in the susceptible age group, the following tests are performed to confirm the diagnosis:
  • Rectal examination of Prostate
  • Flow rate test
  • Bladder scan
  • Blood tests may be performed for checking kidney function and Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) 
Rectal Examination of Prostate

This is performed with the patient lying in the bed and facing the left side. It is a simple way of checking the size of the prostate and the consistency of the prostate to see if there is any suspicion of cancer.

This looks like a commode connected to a small computer that measures the strength of flow.
